We’re given his age as 17 in a single episode yet we’re never given Emily’s throughout the entire series. It’s a plot point driven at whether his age is appropriate or not. This is a predetermined scenario & action by their creator/writer. It must be remembered that we are talking about ‘characters’ and not real people. If you’ve actually read my argument though it’s questioning the appropriateness of the writing moreso than the relationship between two characters.

Hahaha! I even said it was worded poorly, it was a general use of the term (below consenting age) -wow can’t believe that makes me such an idiot. I really don’t know why people stupidly want to use that word wrongly.
AGE OF CONSENT IN FRANCE TV
How is this tired and quite odd joke still making it’s way through TV shows in 2020? Is it questionable to sleep with someone who isn’t yet a fully-realised adult when you are? 2. Like I said the title is poorly worded at the beginning, the conversation itself is more about: 1. You’ve approached this is quite an immature manner by mudslinging and insulting as your way of debate. It’s a tired joke -especially when they must’ve had the discussion to see what age they could get away with and then cast someone who is clearly much older (at least physically). Are you telling me a 30 year old has the same intellectual and emotional maturity as a 16 year old? The fact that the show hasn’t just gone for Camille’s younger brother but thrown in the added question of his age being legal is just a massive misstep at humour and should be derided as such. People do meet people at different times of their life but at 16 your adult life has barely began and you’re not very mature. If you’re 30 and sleeping with a 16 year old then it’s not so much. If you’re 16 and you sleep with a 30 year old then it’s obviously someone a lot older than you but generally fine. You think it’s culturally acceptable for a 30 year old to sleep with a 16? Sure it’s legally acceptable and to their discretion of course but it would be pretty questionable to given the massively different life experiences of both parties.

Well done at learning terms before you throw them into an argument. Help me out here with how we’re meant to watch this and just laugh off this as a something silly?Įphebophilia is between the ages of 15-19 -like I said 14 is paedophilc (fair enough hebephilic) and I’m not American you patronising moron. How does she not know Camille has more than one brother? They’ve had a drive that took hours to get to the chateau and it’s not come up? It feels like she should know enough French not to bang someone who (if we assume Emily is Lily Collins’ age) is 14 years her junior. We did find it odd how she was constantly being plied with booze by him as well tbf.Īlso Emily has been in Paris for how long now? It’s like episode 9 and rudimentary level topics that would have come up in conversation such as college/universite. We see them together twice before she sleeps with him and it’s seemingly booze-filled. It also seems strange that she would have sex with her friend’s brother at their family home without actually verifying his background first. In Chicago, the age of consent is 17 but either way it still feels a bit off. In the USA he would be federally classed as a minor but in France it’s 15.
AGE OF CONSENT IN FRANCE SERIES
I know this is poorly titled but watching the series with my partner and we both thought it was pretty gross that she slept with a 17 year old.
